The closest airports are:
Düsseldorf (20,9 km, about a 25 minute drive)
Köln-Bonn (42,3 km, about a 30 minute drive)

Available on all public parking lots around the museum, for example: Orangery on Urdenbacher Allee, parking lots on Hildener Straße, Meliesallee, Benrodestraße and by the river Rhine on Benrather Schlossufer.

Opening times

The museum opening hours are: Tuesday to Sunday 11.00 am - 05.00 pm
Summertime (May 1st – September 30th): on weekends (Sat + Sun) 10.00 am - 06.00 pm


Day pass for all museums (guided tour through the palace and a glimpse behind the scenes are included) Adults 14€; Reduced (Welcome Card, Benrath Card, Düsselpass, Students, Trainees) 10€; Children, Youth and Pupils (ages 6 -17) 4 €; admission is free for children under 6 years of age; Family pass (2 adults max. and all your own children under 18) 28€.

Due to their historic structure the palace buildings are of limited accessibility. Please note:

Public transport:

  • There is no accessible stop nearby.

Corps de Logis:

  • 3 parking spaces for the disabled: Northwest gate: 1, Parking lot at the orangery: 2.
  • Visit by guided tour only.
  • Entrance: 20 cm high step, door width: 80 cm.
  • 2 interval doors inside the building: 76 cm.
  • A wheelchair with a seat width of 45 cm can be borrowed (electric-powered wheelchairs are not permitted).
  • 1st floor only accessible by stairs.
  • Steep driveway up to the entrance. Cobblestone.

Museum of European Garden Art:

  • Please let the staff at the museum shop know if you plan to visit the museum in a wheelchair.
  • Entrance at the back of the building, the patio partly consists of cobblestone.
  • Mobile ramps (help necessary!).
  • Elevator 1st floor: 110 x 140 cm, door width: 90 cm.
  • Interval doors inside the building, partly only of 78 cm width.
  • Partly the stairs inside the building don’t have ramps.
  • Disabled toilet accessible from one side.
  • Free space to the left of the toilet: 100 x 150 cm, door width: 90 cm.

Museum of Natural History:

  • 2 steps in front of the entrance.
  • 2 mobile ramps available (please give us advance notice).


  • Electronic sliding doors.
  • Door width inside: 105 cm.
  • Level access.
